12th August 1999
Went for a bike ride along the Tissington Trail (a disused railway track which has had the rails and sleepers removed and then had a surface put down. Used by cyclists, horses and walkers). Most enjoyable. We went as far as the village of Tissington and stopped for lunch.
Note the length of the beard - I have not trimmed it for a couple of months now - should be OK for some seasonal work later - in a red suit with some reindeer?
We then went up to Tissington Hall but, as usual with our visits to Stately Homes, it was closed. We cycled back to the car, loaded up the bikes and drove back to the caravan.
In the evening it was Iolanthe - St Mary's High School - 11 to 18 year olds. An excellent production in modern dress - very colourful, lots of action, some clever ideas and great participation by all
Thomas Round was in the audience and here we see him discussing the performance at the interval with David Turner
Here you can see the audience in the dress circle as they begin to come back in for act two
